A Wednesday Like No Other Wednesday

Run You Clever Boy, And Remember

The Disappointmentalist, or "That's Not Psych!  That's Not Even The Mentalist!"
Not sure which is more disappointing ...

8:50pm being dark as hell,

or 5:45am looking the same as 8:50pm?

Also, what's up with that one traffic light in the 8:50pm pic?

Trivia! Or Naked Came Doctor Who?
<ed: ... thought I'd post the trivia recap email I send out here too, because ... content!>

... feelin' the bloom today ...

As usual, please let me know when you know whether you're able to come out this week or not, so I know numbers for snagging a table ...

FYI, nothing official yet, but Kirk said they *may* be raising the max players per table to 6 ...

ACK! THBBFT!! It's time for recap.

She's like the recap,
Through my recap
She rides the recap
Next to recap
She leads me through recap
Only to recap me with the sun
She's taken my recap
But she doesn't recap what she's done
Feel her recap in my face
Her recap close to me
Can't look in her recap
She's out of my recap
Just a fool to recap
I recap anything she needs
She's like the recap

The Keith and I posed the question "What's In The Middle With You?" last week, and what an evening it was!

27 in the first half was good enough for a 3 (or 4) way tie for 2nd place ... Trinity-Bellwoods Orgy Committee won the half with 28!

The second half kept us on our toes - an easy connections round, a tricky Three Actors And A Year movie round, and a thrilling Mystery Three Letters round where we were working with the wrong three letters at first  - props to The Keith for landing on the correct letters ... and with correct letters, we stuck the landing with 5!  ... 26 in total for the half, and 53 on the night!

53 was good enough to tie for first!  ... and then we lost the tiebreaker ... goddamn fastest marathon ...

Anyways, yeah - kicked most of the ass.

... "Manbang" was not one of last week's In The News questions, it's this week or el grande disappointmente ...

Pear pimples for ALL OF THE hairy fishnuts, and hope to see y'all tonight!

A Question For You ...
... which I'm going to ask whether or not anybody reads it.
Would you rather I dump my pics on Instagram, or leave them in my posts?  #yearslatetotheigparty

Laters, y'all.

This Is So Fucking Cool ...

... But Only In Europe For Now
Abbott released a fucking cool new type of glucose monitor in Europe in 2015 ... the Freestyle Libre.
Here's a link to a test drive of the device at diaTribe.org.   It's basically a continuous glucose monitor, however it doesn't actively transmit from the sensor to the monitor ; one hold the reader in close proximity to the sensor, and the reader syncs data collected by the sensor ... according to the test drive, the sensor will store eight hours of data, and is good for 14 days.

Goddamn I want one of these now.  $400 USD for a reader and 2 sensors from Germany on eBay.  I'll do a bit more googling to make sure it works how I expect it to work - I want actual numbers, and not just a "trend arrow" as the test drive states ... I suppose as long as it gives me an actual number whenever I scan the sensor, as long as I scan frequently enough, that'll do ...

This is *totally* gonna add an interesting quantification spin on my next 7-10 day water fast!

Also, fuck either Health Canada for not approving this device yet, or fuck Abbott for not submitting the device for approval yet.  Actually, fuck 'em all for not having this device on the shelves, and making me spend $400 USD on eBay for this shit!  Hey Abbott! (hah - bonus points if you can figure out why I amused myself just then) ... I WANT YOU TO TAKE MY MONEY, YOU FUCKERS!  GIVE ME THIS DEVICE AND YOU CAN HAVE CASH FUCKING MONEY!  I'LL PAY FULL RETAIL PRICE (well, for now)!

In summary : cool beans, gimme, fuck Health Canada, fuck Abbott, gimme gimme gimme.

Saturday In The Park ... Queen's Park

The Blogger App Is A Colossal Piece Of Shit
sigh ... can't work with pictures the way I'm accustomed to do so in a browser window, crashes whenever I try to delete a picture link that I just inserted, and it appears to have lost the draft I had written about this.
I thought I'd try using the app so I could post whenever something crosses my mind, in an effort to update more frequently.  But this end user experience is fucking ridiculous.   I think the way around it is I just post text content, and add pix later.  yay retcon.

Exhibitionismings
Went to The Ex on Sunday.  wheee!

I learned something at The Ex <cue Kyle's soft piano music>  fuck all the Ribfests - #greenwoodsmokehouseFATMFW!
Only 4 vendors at the CNE's Ribfest, and business was slooooooow.  Had pork ribs from one place, beef ribs from a second place, and tried a pork rib from a third place.  Nothing I had was even as good as Baton Rouge - oh snap!  The smokehouse ribs at 3030 Dundas West kicks Baton Rouge's ass.  And Greenwood Smokehouse is the Godzilla to everyone else's Tokyo!

Good Idea ... the Midway.
Bad Idea ... Lobster Concession on The Midway
The End.
(I didn't eat at the lobster concession ... so it's not like I have first hand evidence that it's a bad idea)

In a WTF moment, one of the items that seemed to be all the rage this year are vibration platform exercise machines ... I saw at least 4 different vendors selling them.  Think of them as a motorized Wii Balance Board that vibrates left and right between 20 and 50 times per second, apparently developed by the Russian Space Program and adopted by NASA ... just ... WTF.
(there's little research on the subject, but for the record, maybe it's not all bullshit ... , but that's a far cry from the miracle fitness tool it's being touted as).

September's coming soon, not so much pining for the moon

Run You Clever Boy ... And Remember

I'm only outside around sunset one day a week, and I've only been doing this for maybe 4 months? ... but I find myself keenly aware that sun is setting earlier these days ... No sir, I don't like it!  I'm finding it weird that I actually notice, and weirder that I care as much as I do ...

Saturday August 13, Tuesday August 16
Crappy weather finally encroaches on my outdoor escapades ... time for HIIT on the bike ...

Still Still Alive!

Oops I Did It Again ...

15 days this time!  I'd be hemorrhaging readers left and right if I had any ... no grandiose excuses ... just a case of not much idle time ... Although I am not dragging my laptop into the bedroom, so no more writing before bed ... Yeah that's pretty much all I have for now ...

Who's Selling What Now?
Hey, Jim Gaffigan is selling mini-vans!  No judgement, just sayin'

I Meant What I Said And I Said What I Meant, Even If I'm Still Not Updating This Damn Thing Frequently Enough!

Run You Clever Boy ... And Remember
... it was only a matter of time before I invoked that ... hmm ... maybe I'll make that the permanent title of this section ...

Everybody's Coffee Talkin'
Once again, cold coffee concentrate + sparkling water = deliciousness.

Starbucks double espresso on ice + a smidgen of sparkling water = meh at best.

... am I evolving into enough of a coffee snob that Starbucks espresso kinda tastes like ass?

Is It Just Me ... ?
When someone gets on the same elevator as you, goes to the same floor as you, and goes in the same direction *off* the elevator as you, do you ever get the feeling you've slipped into a parallel dimension, and behind the door you've just walked up to may not be what you're expecting?

I'd be far more inclined to play pokemongo if it didn't hijack audio playback on my phone (apparently the app is classified as a media player).

Wordlike Collection Of Letters Of The Day
precisishness
inspired by Colbert's "truthiness" ... something which was derived meticulously, with great attention to detail, but, y'know, some of the constituent elements were fudged.  Way truthier than a guesstimate, less accurate than exactamundo.

Still Alive!

... the cake is *still* a lie ...

Sorry for yet another gap ... busy-ass weeks, busier-assed weekends, and a desire to post more meaningful content than just a run map.

But, fuck it, some days, a run map may be all y'alls get!  ;)
